The City of Collinsville is accepting applications for an Associate Engineer. This position performs administrative duties in support of the Public Works Department in relation to the design and construction of public infrastructure. This position performs a full range of engineering tasks related to construction and design projects.


Job Responsibilities

General responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs field surveys for public works projects.

  • Designs and prepares drawings and specifications for departmental projects or programs.

  • Coordinates required advertising for bids.

  • Reviews construction bids.

  • Reviews utility company permit plans.

  • Manages ROW permits.

  • Administers construction projects.

  • Verifies construction conforms to contract documents.

  • Evaluates and reviews change order requests, contractor submittals, and contractor claims.

  • Performs construction observations.

  • Makes necessary field inspections to determine existing conditions.

  • Engages with the general public in the field and addresses inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a 4-year degree. One year of construction or design experience will be counted as equivalent to 30 semester college-level units. Engineer in Training (EIT) or the ability to obtain within 12 months is preferred. Candidate must have a valid State Driver's Licenses.


Salary and Benefits

Salary range is $60,312.78 to $72,079.35 per year, depending on qualifications.
