Supervisory Hydrologist

As a Supervisory Hydrologist, Science Chief for Statistical Hydrology and Water Availability OR Science Chief for Surface Water Hydraulics and Modeling within the Central Midwest Water Science Center (CMWSC), some of your specific duties will include: 

 

  • Managing the day-to-day administrative, financial, and technical program within the Science Section/Team, along with working with Center management on short- and long-term planning for the Science Section/Team.

  • Coordinating program development, scientific goals with both internal and external cooperators.

  • Identifying hydrologic data and research needs guided by USGS and Water Mission Area priorities and engaging with relevant Federal, State, and local agencies in developing cooperative data.

  • Serving as a consultant and advising on issues relating to Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri water resources to Federal, state, tribal, USGS leadership, and Executive and Legislative Branch Representatives.

  • Providing technical assistance to Project Chiefs and staff in the design and execution of investigations into surface water hydrology & hydraulics, process-based or statistical modeling, and (or) water quantity, quality, and uses.
